Parent, Carer & Child Sessions

At Nourish, we recognise that children heal and grow within relationships. For infants, children and adolescents, involving parents and carers can strengthen the therapeutic process and support healing beyond the therapy room.

Children and adolescents can experience a range of challenges which can impact their wellbeing and mental health. These may include trauma, family violence, grief and loss, medical trauma, separation, and other significant life events.

At Nourish, we work closely with parents and caregivers to hold the child's story with care. We help children process these experiences in developmentally appropriate ways, and we support parents and carers to better understand and respond to their child's needs.

Supporting the caregiver often creates lasting & meaningful change for the child.

Children & Infants

Therapy is often provided through dyadic work, where the child and their parent or carer attend together. This relationship creates a safe and nurturing space for the infant or child to express themselves, explore emotions, and make sense of their experiences.

Through play, connection, and shared understanding, we support the parent-child relationship as a foundation for healing and healthy development.

Teenagers

Parents and carers may be invited into sessions when it is clinically beneficial and with the young person's knowledge and consent.

These conversations can help strengthen support at home, share important information about mental health, and work collaboratively towards therapeutic goals. Throughout, we respect the adolescent's privacy and their developing independence.

“you look at me and cry
everything hurts
i hold you and whisper
but everything can heal”
